21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to Daughter Zion ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

Let’s Pray Together

What happens when Jesus shows up on the scene?

According to some studies, Jesus performed 37 miracles which were recorded in scripture.

{note}

  • The Gospel of Matthew – 22
  • The Gospel of Mark – 20
  • The Gospel of Luke – 21
  • The Gospel of John – 8
  • That adds up to 71, but many were recorded in multiple Gospels

16 of these miracles were reported on in only ONE gospel, while only ONE miracle was recorded in all four (Feeding of the Five Thousand)

The important question:
Why did things turn miraculous when Jesus showed up?

Let’s break down what happened on Palm Sunday – less than one week before he was crucified.

Hosanna – (Gr.) hō-sän-nä’
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna – (Gr.) hō-sän-nä’
Five times: Matthew 21:9, Matthew 21:15, Mark 11:9, Mark 11:10, John 12:13

Hosanna – (Gr.) hō-sän-nä’
It comes from two Hebrew words – yasha (H3467 to save or be delivered) and na’ (H4994 I pray now)

Hosanna – (Gr.) hō-sän-nä’
It was also a fulfillment of the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9 “he is just and having salvation”

{note}

Arrived on the 10th day, first day of Passion week, and the 14th day of the month being the Passover

So when he arrives, he is not just there for miracles, he is the salvation of all the world

A popular worship song (originally from Sinach in 2016) was released by Leeland in 2019

Way Maker – Miracle Worker
Promise Keeper – Light in the Darkness – That is Who You Are

{note}

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6

“And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy!” – Isaiah 35:5-6

46 Prophets told about the birth of Jesus. Over 300 prophecies spoke of Jesus work on earth. A great number are yet to be fulfilled as he comes again.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” – John 8:12

The question becomes – when Jesus shows up
who is HE to YOU?
