Scripture: Joshua 24:15 (NLT)
We are not called to COME to church, we are called to BE the Church.
And just as the great commission tells us to GO and TELL and TEACH and BAPTIZE, one of the most important arenas for sharing and developing our faith is not “out there”…and it’s not “in here”…it’s at home.
Jesus didn’t just instruct us to go tell people stuff that He said, He instructed us tell people about what we’re living out.
The reality is that we can get caught up in the theory of Church being centered on our time here in this building as we gather among friends and family.
1. Our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
2. Our pastors.
3. Our leaders.
4. Our Teachers
5. Our Mentors.
We learn from each other. We teach each other. We encourage each other.
Yet, nowhere else is the core of our walk with Christ developed than in the life that live outside this building, and one of the most important places in which our investment is made is our home.
The effort applied in our every-day lives truly reveals the depth and the consistency of our faith.
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD”
In so many homes, we see plaques and designs and crosses hung on walls with the statement…But as for me and mine, we will serve the Lord. But what does that actually mean? Does that mean that you will follow where He leads you…and not just you, but your entire family?
Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living..” But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD
We are saying to the world…”Listen. I hear everything you say, and I can’t force you to have belief in God. I can’t make you trust Him. But I’m not following you…I’m following Him!”
“Do As I Say…Not As I Do”
And as you “do”…who are you following?
Where you go I’ll Go… I Will Follow (Song)
How do we serve? How do we move? Who do you love in your daily life?
How do we improve our walk?

Our families need to see us dance…especially our kids.
Always Come Back To The One!
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The heart of our worship should lie with our home, with our family…those we are called to serve and lead and support and encourage, and our homes should be built upon a firm foundation…THE firm foundation of Christ.
Matthew 7:25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
